There was hardly any criticism ,all music was excellent and no bands were frowned upon in society.The contents was mainly chart singles and live gigs in local areas of the artists.
The arrival of "The Rolling Stones" and "The Beatles" caused changes in society as the drug culture changed the nature of music and the lyrics.
1970s
"Glam Rock"
There were artists such as "Sweet" "Mud" "T-rex".
Music newspapers continued to be uncritical about bands and musicians until prog rock bands started to spend more money on stage equipment and lighting and didnt focus as much on creating new exciting records.
The 1970s saw the development of NME talk about its self and politics.
In the Late 1970s and early 80s style in pop music became more important than the music content and records produced itself ,this included things like;
- Makeup
- Clothes
- Video
- Fashion
- Hairstyles
1980s
Independent music labels wanted to be seen so they began creating handmade things to advertise their bands this led to individuality and encouraged a new generation of writers. There was also experimentation with writers and different typefaces.
1990s
Music videos were being released and became very popular which altered the way music was consumed by the target audience of the bands genre.
2000s
Nowadays there is a limited music music press due to the fact that most musicians and bands are seen as a pop culture. Celebrity's who have a talent to sing or play an instrument in the media are now perceived to have the right to be rich and famous.
